Pitryasis Alba (white spots) is a common condition that occurs among the children. It is a harmless condition and is not a cause of concern. A white spot on children’s face is a common skin condition first characterized by red, scaly patches. These white spots resolve leaving areas of scaling hypo-pigmentation, or lighter coloration. Patients do not usually seek treatment of the lesions until this stage because of the concern for the appearance of the scales.

There is no known cause for this condition. It is usually seen among the children who have dry skin and is more prominent among children who have darker skin. This condition is seen more during summer after exposure to the sun. However, it can occur throughout the year.

The condition usually requires no treatment and resolve on its own over a period of few weeks or months. You can prevent it by applying fragrance free moisturizer (dry skin can make your baby more prone to developing white spots on children’s face) and by applying sunscreen. HOW LONG DOES WHITE SPOT LAST?

It can last for a few weeks, or be intermittent where it comes and goes, or persist for several months or years. The good news is that it is not contagious, because it is not an infection. It is believed to be form of eczema and various skin creams can help by relieving itching, but the bad news is that there is no specific treatment other than treating symptoms.

No the white spot caused by pityrasis Alba is not permanent, use mild steroid along with sunscreen and moisturizer.

IS THERE A NATURAL REMEDY FOR PITYRIASIS ALBA?

This is largely a self-resolving condition. In the majority of people, it goes away without any treatment at all. For vast majority of young people, puberty is cure. If it makes you feel better, a moisturizing cream can help the scariness and occasional dryness, but moisturizer (nor any natural remedies that people want to sell you) will not make it go away any more rapidly.
